  • New presidents: IASP Asia Pacific division and West Asia division

  • Dec. 1, 2012

During the recent IASP Asian Divisions conference in Thailand an official ceremony took place in order to formally hand over the position of President and the corresponding duties for both Asian divisions.

Dr. Janekrishna Kanatharana, Vice President, (Thailand Science Park) recently came to the end of his term as Asia Pacific division president, and the division unanimously voted by E-Poll for the candidature of Mr. Jae Goo Lee from The Innopolis Foundation (Korea).

Another E-Poll was also conducted prior to the Bangkok event to vote for a new President to take over the role from Dr. Mahmoud Sheikh-Zeinoddin, Isfahan Science and Technology Town (Iran). Dr. Mohamed Al Maskari from Knowledge Oasis Muscat (Oman) was voted in by members of the West Asia division.

Both Jae Goo Lee and Mohamed Al Maskari represent long standing members of IASP and have considerable experience in managing science and technology parks and working in the STP industry. In their new roles as regional division presidents they will now form part of the IASP International Board of Directors.

IASP would like to thank Janekrishna Kanatharana and Mahmoud Sheikh-Zeinoddin for all of their hard work and efforts over the past two years, and the notable progress and development in both regional divisions under their leadership.
